netdata-updater overwrites the custom go.d.plugin during the daily update

What I expected to happen
we have a custom built go.d.plugin which implements the functionality very specific to our company. it works great, the charts are created and everything looks good.
But it turns out, the daily updater overwrites this binary every night.
we have installed netdata with netdata.io/kickstart.sh.
Is there a way to turn off that overwriting? I looked through the updater config and did not find anything useful
