system_clock_sync_state

system_clock_sync_state

OS: Linux

The Netdata Agent checks if your system is in sync with a Network Time Protocol (NTP) server. This alert indicates that the system time is not synchronized to a reliable server. It is strongly recommended having the clock in sync with NTP servers, because, otherwise, it leads to unpredictable problems that are difficult to debug especially in matters of security.

Here you can find a great article on best practices for NTP servers.

Troubleshooting section:

General approach

Different linux distros utilize different NTP tools. You can always install ntp. If your clock is
out of sync, you should first check for issues in your network connectivity.

Hello, I just started a windows node using wsl2 and I got this alert right from the start and i don’t know what i can do to solve it apart from just remove the alert from the config but that doesn’t look like a good idea.

Hi, I’m in the same situation, the node having this alert had a NTP daemon installed but it had a 5 seconds offset compared to NTP servers.

I’ve fixed the offset by triggering a ntpdate 0.centos.pool.ntp.org. But the alert is not removed after several minutes.

Can’t see why at the moment.

Any advice is welcome.
